Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's early attempts to become a star in the mainstream failed. The singer has been signed by 2 record labels, but she resigned before she released any music. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. The title song was a fun and playful single that garnered little or no notice. The song I kissed a Girl a straightforward ode that expresses sexual desire accompanied by a hardedged electro pop beat made her a larger splash within a couple of months. The track sparked debate, many critics claiming it of encouraging homosexual relationships, and some claiming that the sexually explicit scenario depicted was designed to cater to sexual fantasies of males. But the mixture of titillation and polished melodicism contributed to the fact that I Kissed a Girl become a number one hit in a variety of countries and drove the album sales of the Boys (2008). Hot N Cold was a popular hit in America. the album's second song Hot N Cold with its sharp tongued bouncy beat also gained popularity.
